WHY SLEEPY SHEEP UNDERBLANKETS ARE BEST?
Wool quality or density is measured in 'gsm' (which stands for Grams Per Square Meter) The thickness of the filling and type of filling determine how thick and comfortable your wool underlay will be!
The higher the gsm, the higher or more dense the wool is- quite similar to the thread count on sheet sets. Many companies do not even display the gsm as they are not quality items. (Other inferior wool underlays are only 300-500 gsm in total.)
Sleepy Sheep proudly shows the 975 gsm of the Elite Range and 800gsm of the Reversible Range, as we know our customers expect and deserve absolute quality that will last.
Some quality wool underlays are endorsed by the Australian Woolmark company to ensure the product has been made with the finest quality Australian wool. Sleepy Sheep Reversible Range is Australian and comes with this Woolmark tick of approval. There is certainly a correlation between price and quality wool underlays with high gsm. The quality underlays may come at a higher price tag but along with manufacture warranty they are worth the investment, as the warmth and comfort will benefit you for years to come.
Inferior underlays may also be filled with polyester blends in the filling or pile base. This would make them cheaper in price and quality. And cheap underlays are only glued so and eventually wool falls off! Whereas Sleepy Sheep wool is stitched to backing. Sleepy Sheep has 100% wool stitched and filled throughout our products.
Sleepy Sheep wool toppers are all machine washable, which may also affect prices as many underlays are costly in the long term as they are dry clean only. Don't compromise on quality that will last.
