Wool quality or density is measured in 'gsm' (which stands for Grams Per Square Meter) The thickness of the filling and type of filling determine how thick and comfortable your wool underlay will be. The higher the gsm, the higher or more dense the wool is- quite similar to the thread count on sheet sets. Many companies do not even display the gsm as they are not quality items. Other inferior wool underlays are only 300-500 gsm in total.
